ABOUT
Jessie Lynn McMains (they/she) is a multi-genre writer, zinester, spoken word performer, visual artist, and the owner/editor of Bone & Ink Press. They were the 2016-17 Racine Poet Laureate and the July-December 2021 Racine Writer-in-Residence. They were the recipient of the 2019 Hal Prize for Poetry, and one of their poems was named an Editor’s Choice for the 2023 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Prize. They are the author of several books and chapbooks, including There Will Be Singing About The Dark Times (self-published, 2025), Left of the Dial (Scumbag Press, 2022), Wisconsin Death Trip (Bone & Ink Press, 2020), and The Loneliest Show On Earth (Bottlecap Press, 2020). Their spoken word album, Self-Portrait with Ghosts and Trains, was released by Hello America Stereo Cassette in July 2021, and their spoken word EP There Will Be Singing About the Dark Times (a companion to the chapbook of the same title), was released by Hello America in March 2025.
